Week 1: 27th - 31st July 2026, Movie in a Week
Imagine stepping into the magical world of film-making and, in just one week, helping to bring a brand-new movie to life from scratch. That’s exactly what you’ll do when you join PQA Selby as we create a new movie from scratch together. This isn’t just a quick workshop – it’s a full creative journey, where you’ll experience every stage of the process and discover how a simple idea can grow into a finished film you can keep forever.
Across the week, you’ll get hands-on with storyboarding, turning exciting ideas into visual plans that map out each scene. You’ll explore character development, learning how to build believable, engaging characters with their own personalities, goals and quirks. Then it’s into script writing, where you’ll help shape the dialogue, action and emotion that will drive the story forward.
Once the script is ready, the real on-set adventure begins. You’ll be involved in filming, discovering how to work in front of and behind the camera, and seeing how different shots, angles and performances bring each moment to life. You’ll also dive into sound, learning how music, sound effects and clear audio transform raw footage into something cinematic and powerful.
To finish, you’ll explore editing – the stage where it all comes together. You’ll see how scenes are cut, arranged and polished to create pace, tension, humour and heart. By the end of the week, you won’t just have learned about film-making – you’ll have actually made a movie, from first idea to final cut.
And the best part? The finished film is yours to keep forever. You’ll walk away not only with new skills and confidence, but also with a unique movie that you helped create – something you can watch back, share with friends and family, and be proud of for years to come.
Week 2: 10th - 14th August, Musical in a Week - The Last Illusion

This exciting new show is set in a dystopian world where people escape the stress of everyday life by creating virtual reality worlds and living out their fantasies. But when you lose yourself in fantasy and the walls of reality become blurred, what is reality anyway?
Across the week, you’ll dive headfirst into this thrilling story. Come join us as we explore the characters, learn the songs, and create a fantasy world together. You’ll help bring The Last Illusion to life from page to stage, discovering new skills, building confidence, and making new friends along the way.
